In the new Standby feature my iPhone 14 Pro display turns off after 30 seconds. If I have “motion” enabled it will wake the display momentarily, but it goes off again.
also, in the middle of the night Standby quit working altogether and I needed to remove the phone from the MagSafe charger, lock it and put it back on the charger.

This also happened to me, and after a while when I tapped the display to re-show Standby the font would turn white instead of red (like the phone thought it was in a lit room). I was using a 'Night' focus mode. I made sure to turn off Focus mode before putting the phone on the charger and it seems to have mostly fixed it.

Solved (I think). Stupid User Error.
I checked my “magnetic” charger stand, and it is not MagSafe.
Do you have Always On turned on on your iPhone? Also, is the phone plugged in to charge?
Yes, Always On Display is enabled and the phone is on a MagSafe charger
Those are the only two things I knew to suggest. I'm not using the feature myself, so hopefully, someone who does use it will chime in.
