OK.

  • Since I've restarted my computer on occasion and this behavior still persists, I'd like to understand more about what is going on.
  • I searched for what the error code 8069 means online. Found nothing. What does it mean? Apparently the lists keep changing?
  • I had other files in a pre-existing folder. Created a couple more files on the desktop and attempted to move them to same the same folder. Got code 8069.
  • I shortened the title to "zzzzz" and the folders were allowed into the folder. The previous title was under the max of 255 which I have, on occasion used without problem in the past.
  • Someone might suggest keywords. That's a layer of redundancy I don't personally want and I'd like to understand the behavior and code 8069 in any case.
  • Once dragged and accepted into the folder, I re-named the "zzzzz" document with a longer title, but not as long as the one that prevented moving the file to the folder. This was accepted.
  • Although I just updated to OS Ventura, I'm not hanging on that because I've had this problem before the update. Whether the error code was the same, I don't know. That might change with the OS for all I know. Same behavior.
