Issue with my battery?

Hi!

The light of my MagSafe connector of my brand new M2 MacBook Pro 2023 with 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR is often red.

This is the battery icon in the menu bar even though my computer is plugged:

When I click on it, I get this:

And in the System Settings:

What's that all about?

Thank you!

Chris.

With the Optimize Charging setting turned on, the Mac will only charge to 80% to preserve battery life. This takes into account your normal usage of the battery and will charge to the full 100% when needed depending on your usage or you can charge it to the full 100% at any time.

You can find the location at:  > System Settings > Battery, and then the info button under Battery Health. It is best to leave it on for the battery health and will learn you usage habits and make changes on its own if needed. It appears your Mac is plugged in most of the time, so that is why it is only charging to 80%.
