Can I use "Find My" on someone else's Apple device?

Hi

I lost my iPhone at an international airport. Using the Find My app on my MacBook showed me exactly where it was. Now, what would have happened if I never owned a MacBook? Am I able to use someone else's Apple device to help me locate my lost device? Food for thought????
