DNS DS80 Print driver conflicts on 13.5.2

After the update, my DS80 printer causes some kind of warning to pop up that the driver is malware. I uninstalled the driver and updated it to the newest DS80 driver. Now it's truly screwed up.... thanks for that.

The print driver as MAC has hijacked it, doesn't let you choose 8x10 and 8x12 print... DUH that's what a DS80 prints. None of the options for the printer are there now. ... no matte finish, no margin less printing etc...

Using a MacBook Pro M2 with. 13.5.2 OS.

Is there a way to use the original drivers or get around MAC's limitations by using it's system instead of the drivers made for the printer??

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

Hi j kfrommorgantown,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We would recommend the guidance below that can help:

Solve printing problems on Mac

Add the printer again to create a new printer queue
1. On your Mac, if the printer is on the network, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners  in the sidebar. (You may have to scroll down.)
2. Add the printer to your list of available printers: Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button on the right. A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear.
3. If your printer still doesn’t appear in the list, try adding the printer by its IP address (see below).
If you can print to the newly added printer queue, delete the old printer queue.
If you can’t add the printer because it doesn’t appear in the list of available printers, it may be turned off, or your Mac may be on a different network now. If the printer was shared by another user, the user may have stopped sharing it, or the user’s Mac may be offline. If you don’t manage the printer, ask the person who does for help.

Make sure you have the correct version of your printer’s software (also called its printer driver). If necessary, install the latest printing software that came with the printer or from the manufacturer’s website. If you’re using a printer that another user is sharing, make sure you’re both using the same version of the printer software.
1. On your Mac, to find out which version of printer software you’re using, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar.
2. Click the printer in the Printers list on the right, then check the Driver version.
3. Contact with the printer manufacturer to see if you have the latest driver version.
If you’re using a network printer or a printer connected to your Mac, make sure you have the latest version of the software for the printer. If you still have problems, try a different version of printer software.
If you’re using an AirPrint-enabled printer, check with your printer’s manufacturer to see if any updates are available for your printer model.
If none of the previous solutions work, the printer’s queue may be corrupted. Try deleting it and setting up your printer again.
If you still can’t print, reset the printing system.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Cutting and pasting the instructions isn't helpful at all. You make the mistake of assuming I'm a novice user.

You apparently missed the whole first paragraph where I stated that I "uninstalled the driver and updated it to the newest DS80 driver". Possibly you needed me to spell out that process for you but I assumed you would understand. Also, at no point did I ever mention that it was a network driver either.

I have already done all the steps you copied, for replacing a print driver. That's the reason I came to the community to ask a question.

Since the time I posted this, I spent and hour and a half on the phone with the manufacturer of the printer. It was verified that the problem was in the on-screen instructions for the new print driver that failed to mention that the printer needed to be not only turned off, but also unplugged. Repeating the steps with the printer off and unplugged, the new driver was properly installed. Previously a MAC generic printer driver was hijacking the print function and not permitting margin less prints as well as selecting photo format in page sizes.
