USB Ports on the Mac Book Pro?

I just bought a Mac Book Pro, and was told it had USB Ports, but when I tried to use a USB plug I found it doesn't fit. Do I need to run out and get some expensive adapter just to plug into my other devices?

MacBook Pro 15″, OS X 10.11

Yes, you will need an adapter to convert from USB-C to USB-A, such as:

USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple

This is the Apple version, but they should be available at many department or electronic outlets.
