When I get a text notification there is no sound. I have double checked all settings and everything is correct.

Try flipping your Silent Switch to turn off silent, if that doesn't work then make sure any focus modes that may silence the texts.
If the texts are still silent I recommend going into Settings >> Messages >> Notifications. And making sure the notifications are as you would expect.
One more thing to try is going under the contact that is texting you and making sure "Hide Alerts" is off.
Latest update turned off all my notifications. Go to notifications and turn back on items needed. This just changed again with new update.
