I've tried the volume up, volume down and side button solution. It starts up again, but then get's stuck again at the same screen: "Select your country or region"
The iPhone is full charged.

Apple support called me today. Said that resetting it with the computer using iTunes is the best option. Gonna try tonight.
I’d offer that returning it for a refund is the best option.
A “new” genuine iPhone - which you’ll likely use for years - simply should not malfunction as described.
There is something amiss here. How can a new iPhone behave this way?

Did you try to set it up, using your computer?
Online, from trusted phone company. Really weird. I never had issues with Apple before
