Calls going straight to voicemail

my daughter can only reach me by FaceTime calls. Unknown numbers, such as new doctors offices, go straight to voicemail and don’t even ring. Help!

Thank you for your reply. I should’ve mentioned in my question that I have run through all the troubleshooting I could find on Apple support. Which included the suggestion you gave to make sure silencing unknown callers is off.

Yes, it's generally good to state specifically what you tried. So, should I also assume you have turned off the mute switch? Disabled Focus? Do you have any call screening apps installed, either from your carrier or another kind?

Go to Settings>Phone>Silence Unknown Callers and make sure it is off.
