Setting up new apple id

When setting up new apple id, the phone number is automatically populated. I receive message that phone number is verified but then see error in red "the phone number must be a 7-digit number. the phone number area code must be a 3-digit number". The phone number is correct with 3 digit area code and 7-digit phone number and the region is set to United States.

Apple typically requires a phone number from a recognized telecom provider for phone number verification when setting up an Apple ID. Third-party VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone services or virtual numbers may not be accepted for verification purposes, as they might not be considered reliable or secure for Apple's verification process.

To successfully create or verify an Apple ID, it's usually recommended to use a traditional mobile or landline phone number from a reputable telecommunications provider. If you're using a virtual number or a number from a third-party app, you may encounter issues during the verification process.
