Download and delete iCloud Photos
I’m having trouble downloading and deleting the photos I have 2000+ from icloud. Any advice greatly received.

Did you try to download the photos from iCloud as explained in this related article?
Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support
Deleting the photos from iCloud after that will delete them also from all connected devices.
So make sure to download them to a separate folder on your computer.
