Needs info on erasing disk on Mac Monterey 12.6.8 on my Mac mini. Instructions I found here ask me to hold down command and R during startup. I get normal startup and disk utility does not give me the option to erase my disk.

Want to set up late 2014 max mini for resale. Running Mac Monterey 12.6.8.

instrucuons from this site tell me to sign out if I could, done. Also sign out of ITunes and IMessage.

then shut down Mac. Start up while holding down command and r key. It starts up normally and disk utility does not allow the erase function.

are you using the apple Magic Keyboard with rechargeable batteries? if yes, try and connect the keyboard to the Mac with it's charging cable to boot into recovery. if you are using a keyboard with replaceable batteries, try and find (beg or borrow) a wired USB keyboard and use that to boot into recovery. many times the bluetooth keyboard doesn't "react" quick enough to be recognized while trying to get to recovery.
