My voicemails are going directly to the deleted folder

For months now, I have not been receiving voicemails on my iPhone, even though friends and family have told me they are leaving them. Today, I opened my deleted voicemails folder, wondering if maybe it was full and that's why messages weren't coming through. In there, I discovered many months of voicemails, marked with the blue dot (unplayed), because they had never landed in my inbox. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.

Thank you, but this is not what I was asking. My voicemails are NEVER landing in my inbox. I am not deleting them. They are going directly to the "deleted" folder, all by themselves, the moment people leave them. I have not changed my SIM card, nor I have I changed the region I live in.

Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Settings>phone>Live Voicemail
  2. Toggle off Live Voicemail
  3. Settings>phone>Dial Assist
  4. Toggle off Dial Assist
  5. Turn off phone
  6. Wait 1 minute
  7. Turn on phone
  8. Settings>phone>Live Voicemail
  9. Turn on Live Voicemail
  10. Settings>phone>Dial Assist
  11. Turn on Dial Assist
  12. Call your iPhone from another phone and let the call go to voicemail.
  13. Check your voicemail box. The new call should now be on the mail voicemail page.

You can’t move the voicemails from the deleted folder to the main page, but now all new messages will appear on the main voicemail page.

Hey rafiafrombolivia,

While voicemail is a carrier feature, there are a few things you can check before reaching out to them.

  1. Make sure your iPhone is fully updated. If an update is needed back up first. Both steps can be found here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  2. After ensuring your iPhone is updated, check for a carrier update. Here's how: Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If those steps don't help, reach out to your carrier to have them check everything on their side. If all is well with your carrier, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support to look into this more. They can be reached here: Get Support

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

Hello rafiafrombolivia,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

We were able to find these steps:

"Important: In some countries or regions, deleted messages may be permanently erased by your carrier. Your voice messages may also be deleted if you change your SIM card.

To recover a deleted message, tap Deleted Messages, tap the message, then tap Undelete."

Additional details can be found here: Check your voicemail on iPhone

If you are still having issues, it may be best to reach out to your carrier.

Cheers!
