Saving edited photos

I edited a photo in my Mac (photos) by zooming in on it. But when I press "done" it reverts to the original. How can I save the modified version ?

Hello, zooming a photo does not count as photo editing. If you want to crop the photo, use the "edit" then "crop" option and use the mouse to select how much you want to crop the photo. Now click "done" and the edits are overwritten to the original photo.
