Wemo Plugs Stuck at "Updating" in Homekit

This is a re-ask of the question "Wemo plugs not responding to Homekit" which got no answers or replies. The same thing started with my 3 Wemo plugs since the latest iphone/Ipad update and I agree that it's HomeKit/Apple and NOT Wemo.

Here is the symptom: When I try to use HomeKit or Siri to turn the Wemo outlets on or off, there is a long delay. Siri will reply that the outlets are "not responding" but then the outlets will react up to a minute later. The outlets in HomeKit state "updating". I tried reconnecting HomeKit to Wemo from within the Wemo app and that seems to have corrected the issue but I remain skeptical.

Anyone have other suggestions?

Yes, I have bought four plugs from the Apple Store and three have now failed with this issue. I see others suggest to remove from Home app and reset the plug. I tried that and a) the plug won’t reset and b) once removed, it can’t be added back because it says it’s already added. Very frustrating. On top of that, even though these plugs have only lasted a couple of months or so, there appears to be no way of returning them for a replacement, or at least Apple has buried the process so deep as to be non existent. Doesn’t seem right from a consumer rights perspective.

I have several Wemo plugs and they will be my last. Replacing all of them with Eve outlets which are far more reliable.

Two of the Wemo refuse to update firmware. Every time I click on UPDATE the error message appears "Could not update". This is regardless of the plug being in use or not.

During power outages the Wemo outlets all power back up in the off state. All of them. The Eve plugs remember the state and power back up in their last state.

My Scene Controller switch I just bought from Amazon refuses to update to the latest firmware. It's stuck on version 2.3.3 which means it's not thread enabled. It's been several days since it was added to Homekit. I have several other wemo scene controllers in two different homes and all the rest updated within the firs half hour of adding to Home.

Seems the quality and customer service from Belkin is severely lacking.
