Hi there -
If your Mac doesn't seem to turn on after you press the power button, follow these steps: If your Mac doesn't turn on - Apple Support, or, if your Mac doesn't start up all the way or needs you to do something during startup, it might stop at one of these screens: If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support.

Then hold down the power button for 15 seconds and see if it starts up, if it will not please contact your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it serviced.

Shutdown the iMac for about 5 minutes, then restart and continue holding the power button for about 15 seconds and release. It may boot up just fine.
No I get nothing but a blank black screen, no start up chime, nada.
No need to shut it down! It is OFF and no response whatsoever from power (startup) button.
Still no joy. Off to the shop we go. ****.
