How to fix the calendar month view

How do I get the calendar month view to display events in the month calendar instead of dots and not a random side Split View list?

Monthly Calendar View This is a far cry for an update 🙏 Dear Apple. The calendar is the most important tool on our devices. Please! Update the monthly view! I access my calendar tens of times a day... I need a preview not dots! Thanks.

Tap the three horizontal dots at the center of the very top and choose “Full Screen View” from the resulting drop-down.
