Trackpad Click and Drag Issue

When I click and drag to highlight text using my trackpad, it does not highlight more than one line at a time. I cannot select an entire paragraph, or page of text, without deleting one line at a time. This issue just arose a few days ago; my trackpad worked before. Is there a solution to this?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

Are you sure that no setting have been modified?

You can do the steps listed in this thread, it may be a software issue:
