Windows/iCloud broken?

On my Windows 10 Pro laptop, I had the iCloud app installed and connected to Outlook for my calendars and contacts. Out of nowhere it stopped syncing which cause me to start going through the steps to troubleshoot. I kept getting an "unknown error" from the iCloud app. After chatting with support on Apple.com, I got nowhere, and ultimately wiped the machine and did a fresh install of Windows 10.

The first thing I did was install Office and iCloud, and got exactly the same error. At that point, I just went to iCloud.com in Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Opera, all with the same result - an unknown server error.

After a couple of hours with an Apple tech looking at my screen through my phone, the conclusion was that I needed to make sure all Windows updates were installed and to upgrade to Windows 11. I did that.

Still can't access iCloud through a browser or the app.

Anyone else?

It's Windows Update that triggers this - after any major update, it will break the iCloud App (from the Microsoft Store). Only solution I have used for too many years and too many times!!!!! is to:

1- uninstall iCloud app (someone should just burn this piece of trash app)

2 - find an old non-app version of iCloud and install that

3 - once the old version is working and authenticated, reinstall the app - or just don't because apparently neither Microsoft nor Apple give a hoot about fixing the problem that has been going on for a few years now and you can count on it happening again on the next big Win Update.

iCloud wants some sort of re-authentication that the App cannot manage to complete. I have been through this procedure so many times, it is ridiculous.

Yes, if you look at other threads it would appear this is a wide scale issue. A lot of people are confusing the iCloud App for WIndows and iCloud.com, but the issue is the same for both, oddly.

Strangely, my latop WIndows 10/Chrome browser started working last night, but my Windows 10/Chrome browser tower will not work with the iCloud App.

Keep everyone posted and make sure you list a ticket with Apple or it will not be looked at.
