My son has a blue iPad, got him the 2nd generation pencil recently and it won’t connect i don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or something is wrong with the pencil. I’m not sure

Well I’m not 100% sure the generation but it’s the new blue one because his first pencil had to have an adapter for it to work but now the new 2nd gen won’t connect
