Use iMac 27" as monitor for Macbook?
Hi,
As I am no longer able to update the OS for my late 2013 desktop (with 27# screen), I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase a Macbook and use the desktop as a monitor?

While 27" Late 2013 iMacs support Target Display Mode, Apple added restrictions on the signal source:
All MacBooks now for sale are too new (in terms of hardware and software) to satisfy these restrictions. So there's no point in spending $80 on Thunderbolt connection hardware ($50 adapter + $30 cable) to see if things will work. Better to put the money towards a new 27" 2.5K (2560x1440 pixel) or 4K (3840x2160 pixel) monitor.
