Can’t get new recovery key

I can’t replace my recovery key I go into settings tap my name then password and security and account recovery and I get this message This Feature Uses End-to-End Encryption


Your Apple ID settings need to be updated so this iPhone can use end-to-end encryption. So I’m worried that I’ll loose access to my Apple ID and start again does anyone have a solution an I tried my iPad same message as mentioned above help would be appreciated tia

Enabling Recovery Key and then losing that key does risk permanent lockout, yes,


The features are related. Advanced Data Protection requires a Recovery Key, Recovery Contact, or (probably also) a set of Security Keys.


You do not appear to have a choice about first enabling Advanced Data Protection here, too. Particularly if you are unable to disable the Recovery Key.
