Photos older than 10 years disappeared

I back up my photos to the iCloud. I went to look at old photos today in my library and all my photos older than 10/26/2014 are gone. I have plenty of storage available on iCloud. Where could the photos be?

Why did 9 months of photos dissapear from my iCloud? Was looking back on some old photos and noticed that 9 months of photos have disappeared from my icloud photos. There are also just missing photos that weren't part of the missing months, instead from later. I checked my recently deleted and hidden photos section and didn't see the photos in either one. iCloud photos missing How to I get back my missing photos on iCloud, I have been backing up my photos just as expected but I recently noticed that close to 8000 photos from random dates are missing. Please help me get them back, I am stressing out. Please also note that I have plenty of storage so storage cannot be an issue

iCloud photos are missing I recently switched over to a new phone with more storage, and wanted my photos to save to my device instead of the cloud because they were all low quality photos that I can’t ever see/use, but over 5000 photos wouldn’t back up to iCloud even though I had enough space and storage for it, so I opted to stop sharing with iCloud to see if the photos that had low quality would return to high quality. They ended up being deleted off my device and they are no where to be found in my iCloud on my personal computer even though they were a low quality version that had previously been in the cloud. Any way I can get these photos back?

How did you "back up" your photos to iCloud? If you enabled iCloud Photos, that is a synchronization system, not really a backup system. Did you use some other feature of iCloud? If so, what and how?

When did you last see those older photos? What were you doing with them at that time?
