Is a new USB SuperDrive compatible with MacBook Pro 2021 14" with Ventura OS

yes, but it needs to be connected directly to the Mac. it will not work if connected through a dock or hub. and since your Mac only has USB-C / TB3 ports, you need to use either an USB-C to USB Adapter or an USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to connect it directly. some third party adapters may work, but it is a craps shoot as to wether or not they would work.

you have to use apple original Multiport adapter USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter - Apple or USB-A to USB-C

dongle. other vendors hubs and adapters simple does not supports usb bus drive feature.

just tested today with Apple Multiport adapter on my m2 air with apple superdrive and it works.


Also it worked with old samsung USB A to USB C adapter that was inside the box of Samsung S9 Plus device.
