To fix the iMovie "not enough disc space" issue I did as someone suggested on this forum and put iMovie in trash without emptying the trash so I could upload a new iMovie from the App store. Unfortunately when I put iMovie into trash it automatically deleted it. So I would not suggest anyone doing that. Apple should remedy this iMovie issue already. Such a waste of time trying to do anything with iMovie these days.

When getting the "not enough disk space" error message, the remedy is to clear off some unwanted data from your Mac to create sufficient disk space. Putting the iMovie app into the trash will not remove it from your Mac until the trash is emptied. If you don't have enough disk space then you likely will be unable to download another space consuming copy of the iMovie app. And even if somehow the old iMovie app disappeared from the trash, it won't help simply to replace it with another iMovie app because there is not enough disk space for it to function properly.
Most people who do video editing utilize an external drive to store the iMovie library and to save videos on it, to keep space free on the Mac internal drive.

I’m sure you’re trying to be helpful. I already know that. But all I did was drag it to the trash, and it disappeared. So unless you have another idea of where it disappeared to, I did not delete or empty my trash. I’ve been using a Mac computer for over 20 years. That would be a truly novice thing to do. Thanks anyway.
Hmmmm. You might benefit from calling Apple Support and discussing the "not enough space" issue with the techs there. They have the capability of remoteley accessing your computer, that we do not have there.

Well thanks again Rich. I know all that. This is a fairly new MacBook Pro computer with almost 2 Terabytes of storage left. And yes, I was using an external hard drive to store my iMovies on but wanted to create a short reel that didn’t need to be on the external hard drive. Still, the “not enough storage on disc” message was displayed. Made no sense at all. I had and have more than enough room on my computer and MacBook.
Again, it seems I am not the only one having this issue even though there is ample storage. This is a tech issue that should have had a simple fix for by now.
