My MacBook was stolen

My MacBook Pro was recently just stolen not even an hour ago. I have it on find my iPhone but the location is not updating. Is there anyway you can help me track the device or if I have insurance, can I file a claim and get a new one

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.2

We are not Apple, just users like you.

Apple has no way to track stolen property other than FindMy, and the stolen device must be turned on and FindMy active.

FindMy can locate your device and can reset it for data protection. What you do with the location knowledge is up to you, but physical confrontation with the thief is discouraged.

Report the. theft to local law enforcement, and your insurance company if applicable, and just wait of something to happen. That's pretty much your only choice. Filing an insurance claim is not something either we or Apple can assist you with.
