Mac mini pro 2 crashing

Hi.

My new Mac mini crashes at random occasionally.

I'm hoping someone is able to help diagnose a report before I take it to apple?

It's just a hassle getting time to go beside the long wait booking it in.

Cheers, Wayne.

Please attempt to better describe the crash. Here's some questions:

  • Do you see something like this on the screen before it reboots or you have to hold the power switch?

  • It is crashing and rebooting when waking from sleep?
  • Does it seem to just spontaneously restart for no apparent reason?
  • Does it crash and restart when you are running an application? Any commonality about when it crashes? Things you were doing. Software you were using? Etc.

Hi James, thanks for your reply.

Randomly every week or 2 the screen sort of goes half black or blank, no writing like the pic, no holding buttons, it just goes blankish and reboots immediately.

I have a whole bunch of apps running, Word always seems to have a beachball when I hover over it, click on a doc and it goes away.

I feel it is maybe the monitor, Samsung 49' LC49g95t on 240 hertz 5120x1440, that's just a guess.

Would the diagnostic report show anything?

I don't have much more sorry.

Cheers, Wayne.

Can you post a screenshot of the most recent ones around the time of the last crash you remember? Or if the problem happens frequently enough wait till it occurs again, pull up the Console after a few minutes and look at the most recent entries. Then post the screenshot.

My Crash Reports and Spin Reports are EMPTY.

You can also install the venerable https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html You don't need to buy the professional version of Etrecheck the free version is perfectly fine.

Run Etrecheck and grant it Full Disk Access. Let it scan and then attach the report using the Additional Text button under the ellipsis (...), just paste the text of the report into the Additional Text as the report is very long and this is the only way to attach that much information in reply.

Etrecheck is written by another person who helps on these forums, it's recommended frequently on these forums. It collects hardware and software info into a report. Nothing personal is included. But it can help point to what is problematic. We typically read the report and try to figure out what might be causing you problems.
