Extreme lagging while playing youtube videos on safari (intel mbp 2019)

Same issue on Chrome unfortunately. When playing a youtube video in one window, keyboard stalls while typing. Multi-monitor setup (3 external monitors, laptop screen closed). Sonoma.

I use the same machine and have been experiencing the same issue for a while - since the Ventura release. And upgrading to the Sonoma didn't change anything. I have done several Safari rage quits already (I wanted to give it some second chances), and now I'm on Chrome.

My wife is on M1 Pro MBP 14, and she doesn't experience any issues with Safari. I think this issue consists of two things:

• Apple is dropping proper support of Intel-based Macs and trying to keep them alive until they all become 'vintage' devices.
• Most websites are Chrome-optimised, including YouTube.

I tried almost all the recommendations, but they help only for a short time, and I think I'll switch to Chrome completely. Maybe one day I'll switch to Safari again when I have a fresh Mac - at this moment, it's not usable for me because of micro lagging and not working properly on some websites.

I could watch this if video actually worked. YouTube, QuickTime, Etc.

I had the exact same problem on my 2016 MB Pro and turning off Ambient Mode on Youtube was the solution for me.

Hey there, I know it has been a long time but I've read some things a while ago about YouTube purposefully slowing down the website for AdBlock users.

Don't know if you have the extension, but it might be the reason why it's lagging so much.

removing extensions like adblocker and google docs from chrome browser solved my problem. hope it works for you.
