scrolling issue with magic trackpad and other external mice

On iPad Air 4 ios 16.6

Scrolling is not working on Magic Trackpad or other brand bluetooth mouse within certain applications like safari as well as within system settings.

For example, gmail is opened in Safari and will not scroll up and down through emails to navigate.

For example, in system setting scrolling can be laggy.

For example, Looking/browsing on Obsidian’s (as an example) website in safari, scrolling is laggy or not working in the center column but works in the left column.

Also if the on screen keyboard is brought up, or the minimized version (sorry don’t know what thats called) scrolling works fine- once the keyboard or the grammar box thingy disappears the bug returns.

This all seemed to occur with the latest (security) update.

Hey there ParksArtworks,

Thanks for reaching out!

While the resource and steps we're linking below are meant for connection issues, it can also be used to help resolve overall usage issues. Follow along below and test to see if that helps:

1. Update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS. Go to Settings and tap the Software Update Available notification. If you don't see a notification, go to General > Software Update to see if an update is available.
* If you're using Magic Keyboard, make sure that you have iPadOS 14.5 or later.
2. Remove any other iPad case or cover if you're using Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio.
3. Connect your Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard / Smart Keyboard Folio.
4. If your keyboard doesn't immediately respond, restart your iPad.
5. If your keyboard is not connecting, or if you're experiencing issues unrelated to connecting, contact Apple Support.

Take care!

Hi again, I am up to date. I am NOT using the magic keyboard (if that matters). I am using the stand-alone Magic Trackpad (a magical white rectangle that’s like a mouse but cooler) with my iPad Air 4. The bug is the same on both the Magic Trackpad and a bluetooth mouse. They both present bad or choppy or otherwise lack scrolling ability both within certain apps and within Safari web browser on various sites.

I’ve tried various fixes like removing other bluetooth devices thinking it might be interference but the bug remains.

Other thing to note is the apple pencil works fine and doesn’t seem to present the same issue scrolling.

Issue seemed to present after the last security updates. Still looking for an answer
