How should I back up my iPad (1st gen.)?

I have a first generation iPad that isn't able to do much of anything except hold the information that's already there. There are tons of pics, videos and documents in pages. I am unable to connect to the internet, add a mail app or add any other apps. I have tried unsuccessfully to get assistance and this issue has seemed to stump everyone - including some associates at the Apple Store. What is the best way to transfer/move all of the data from the 1st Generation iPad? Would it be best to move it to either a newer iPad or MacBook? Also, this generation of iPads did not have icloud accounts so all data is directly on the device. I'm at my wits end on what to do and don't want to lose the data that's currently on the device over time.

Personally, I'd transfer everything to a new iPad...I think you certainly got your money's worth if the one you have is 1st generation.

Quick Start should work: Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If it doesn't, then connecting your old iPad to your Mac and backing it up to the Mac is probably best. Back up iPad - Apple Support

Hope this helps.

I have started this process but the issue is the iPad doesn't have an icloud account. I am able to see the iPad information from the Mac. I was able to transfer some files from the iPad to the Mac but a lot are still missing. Can't figure out how to transfer the pics as the only option is to move pics from Mac to iPad and not the other way around.
