iPad Pro Screen Moving on Its Own

I just recently got my iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard and this didn’t start happing until yesterday. When I am just sitting in, for example, safari the search bar will move like it’s being tapped and my bookmarked websites will randomly get clicked on. And when I try to type in the search bar it will just enter on its own when I’m not done typing. I’ve checked my screen and it’s clean, no scratches or crumbs, and I’ve looked at my keyboard and it’s also clean so I’m confused. Does anyone know what may be causing this and how to fix it?

Hi there yiana128,

You'll want to start by making sure your iPad Pro is running the latest software version, which is iPadOS 16.6. You can see the currently installed version by going to Settings > General > About. If needed, learn how to update your iPad here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If your iPad Pro is updated and you're still seeing that there's an issue with false touch on the screen, let's take a closer look at what else could be contributing to this behavior. Does this happen when your Magic Keyboard isn't attached to your iPad?

Are you using a case or screen protector with your iPad? If so, and you remove them, does that seem to help? Is this only happening in Safari or have you noticed this behavior in other apps?

Let's also be sure you've worked through the suggestions in this support article to see if they help: If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

I checked and my iPad is updated to the newest software. I also don’t have a case or screen protector on my iPad. The false touch is happening when my Magic Keyboard is attached. I thought it may have been the Bluetooth mouse I was using but I disconnected that, left it on the Magic Keyboard, and continued to have issues. I then took the iPad completely off the keyboard and the false touch continued. I had to move to my phone to type this reply because the screen would move so much while I was trying to type my reply. It does things in safari like randomly touch the top three buttons, move the screen up/down, and sometimes pull down the notifications. But the problems aren’t exclusive to that app. When I’m on the Home Screen it will randomly open widgets like my calendar and when I play Stardew Valley it keeps tapping back on the character and the screen will zoom in and out. And when I use Hulu the time bar/pause button would randomly flash like someone had touched the screen. I’m starting to think it may be an issue with the screen? Thank you for the reply.
