That really depends on what you need to do. As Keynote is free for Mac users, I suggest you download it and play with it a bit to see if it meets your needs.
Fortunately, if you need to share a Keynote presentation, you can always print it to pdf.

No, Keynote is not effective as PowerPoint. If you are making a presentation for your business, a Windows user can't open the Keynote presentation on their computer.
Also, PowerPoint has more advanced animations and editing tools.
Although, Keynote has a more user-friendly design.
It's up to you, but PowerPoint seems to be better than Keynote and Google Slides.
