I can’t connect my child’s iPad to the Wi-Fi…it tells me that the site is restricted…how do I get past this?

Selected Wi-Fi I want to connect to. It goes through the process to go to the site for me to log in…there is a pop up that tells me the site is restricted. I see the “allow” button but it doesn’t allow me to click it. It just goes back to the Wi-Fi page of the setup screen. I am able to log my 8yo iPad and mine, but not my 5yo.

Ok, if you’re at a hotel or elsewhere and the WIFi is a landing page, which blocks out due to restrictions on your child’s account here is what you do.

1) Create a hot spot on the phone/device that has parental controls.

2) Join the hot spot on the device kids device you want to connect to the internet.

3) Turnoff restrictions on the device (using parental control)

4) Load up the landing page and log onto the WiFi with the child’s device.

5) You can then add the webpage as an exception to your child’s account if you wish.

6) Turn back on the parental controls

I am not sure if you actually need step 5 but I did it anyways.

Appreciate that this thread is old, but it took me so long to work it out that I thought posting might stop someone else from going through the pain.

Hi RacerBA,

To clarify, what's the exact message that you see when you try going to the website in question? Does it only happen with that one website? Knowing this will help us narrow things down.

As another possibility, are there any profiles installed on this device? If so, it's possible there could be restrictions set in place by a configuration profile. You can check by tapping Settings > General and then scrolling down to look for VPN & Device Management.

Let us know what you find.

Best wishes.

the message was something like "page is restricted"

i was away and was trying to connect the ipad to the internet via the available wifi.

I was thinking that when i changed the restriction to unrestricted, it didn't take affect because the ipad was not connected to the wifi...DUH!!!!

Thanks for your help though...i'm back now and everything is fine again...
