Mac book contacts are not syncing with iCloud.

Not sure what you need. Contacts added to apple contacts on Mac book do not sync with iCloud any more. Stopped working not sure how long ago.

Hello TVConners,

Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details. If some of the contacts are on the Mac, and are not syncing to iCloud and there are no other accounts that are contributing to the Mac to provide those contacts, you should be able to export those and then import them into iCloud.com.

You can find the steps here:

Import or export a vCard in Contacts on iCloud.com

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

Hey there TVConners,

We understand you're not seeing your MacBook Contacts app syncing with iCloud anymore. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Check to make sure Contacts is enabled in iCloud within System Settings > ["Your Name"] > iCloud. Press the "Show All" button if you do not see the Contacts option to make sure it's enabled.

If that doesn't apply to your situation, you may also be storing these contacts within a third-party email account:

Set up and use iCloud Contacts – Apple Support (UK)

"Add Contacts from third-party accounts

If you store contacts in a third-party email service, you can add the email account to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Then check that Contacts is enabled.

If you experience sync-related issues, disable the account."

Kind regards.

Hello TVConners,

If it still won't sync with iCloud, you can sign out and back into your account with these steps:

1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings.
2. Click your name.
3. Click Sign Out.

Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac

Then after it has finished signing out, just re-enter your Apple ID email address and password to sign back in to your account.

Cheers!

Hi TVConners,

You asked a very important question about accounts earlier. You will need to make sure you are using the same Apple ID in iCloud on both your iPhone and your Mac for Contacts to sync.

Check to confirm that the email address listed below your name is the same in both of these places:

  • On your iPhone: Settings > [your name]
  • On your Mac: System Preferences/System Settings > [your name]

If the Apple ID email address is the same in both of these places, try to log in on the iCloud Contacts website to see if Contacts from your Mac are the same as the Contacts on the iCloud website:

The iCloud website pulls directly from the iCloud servers, and this will help you determine where to concentrate our focus.

Best Wishes.

Still not syncing between Mac Book Pro and iCloud, and hence to iPhone. Don't use 3rd party contacts. Use Apple Contacts Version 2539.10. All MacOS and iPhone OS are up to date. Contacts is enabled in System Settings > ["Your Name"] > iCloud. Not sure what you mean by "If you experience sync-related issues, disable the account."? Concerned with losing data. Could use some more advice. Not sure how to log out or sign out using my appleid. I've had to reset it a number of times and am running out of passwords!!!

Is it possible that I have two different passwords for my appleid? I ask because when I sign in to iCloud.com the password I have works. When I sign in to Apleid.com, the password does not work.

Every suggestion I read for this issue was the same thing - make sure you're using same Apple ID, make sure contacts are enabled (duh), sign out and sign back in, disable contact sync in 3rd party email accounts, ensure you have the latest OS updates, etc, etc. Well, none of these suggestions worked for me. Infuriating - as iCloud syncing is supposed to be seamless!

In icloud.com I had 855 contacts. I know this (icloud.com) is the master and all other devices should match it. Well, on my iphone and ipad I also had the same 855 contacts. But on my MacBook I had 1564 contacts and most were duplicates. I deduped them, but they would just return. And when I'd delete one contact from icloud.com, it would delete it from my iphone and ipad, but not from my MacBook. So, my MacBook just wasn't reading from the same data as my other devices (i.e. from my iCloud contacts). I tried every suggestion out there and nothing fixed it. Until I did this.

I simply deleted my iCloud account from my MacBook! I closed my MacBook applications that pull from iCloud (Contacts, Calendar, Messages, etc), then went into System Settings>Internet Accounts, chose my iCloud account, scrolled down to the bottom and hit the Delete Account button. I then waited a while and did other things on my MacBook, to clear anything from cache (don't know for sure if you must do this, but it's what I did). Then I went back into System Settings>Internet Accounts and clicked Add Account, then chose iCloud option, then entered my Apple ID credentials that I use for iCloud on all of my devices. After adding the account back (and enabling the apps I wanted to sync - Contacts, Calendar, etc), I then opened Contacts and it sync'd up perfectly with what I had in icloud.com and my phone and ipad.

I don't know if this will work for everyone else, but it did the trick for me! Good luck!
