I updated to iOS 17.0.1 and it also has the same issue. The GPS signal is very poor. I have been facing GPS signal issues from the day one of buying this device. I have done almost everything and went to Apple support as well. But nothing helped. Looks like the GPS antenna in 14 Pro Max is not good enough to catch and lock the GPS signals. My S23 Ultra gets a very clear signal at all spots wherever my iPhone fails miserably. Apple do something. Fix it, please.

How do you know GPS is not working?

Are you using the built-in Compass app? This can indicate if your GPS is functioning. Open the Compass app and see if it's able to detect your direction and movement accurately?

If you are using apps that rely on GPS for functionality, such as fitness tracking apps (like Nike Run Club or Strava) or outdoor activity apps. These apps should be able to display your location and track your movements if the GPS is working properly.

Apple Maps can continue to provide navigation guidance using GPS even if the internet connection is lost on the device. This is because the GPS receiver in your iPhone can still receive signals from GPS satellites to determine your precise location and movement, even without an active internet connection.

When you start a navigation route in Apple Maps, it typically downloads the map data and route information for the entire trip before you start. This means that if you lose your internet connection during navigation, the app can still use the GPS information to keep track of your location and provide turn-by-turn directions based on the pre-downloaded data.
