Canon MX490 Scanner Driver for MacOS Ventura with M1/M2

Tip: If your scan option is no longer showing for your Canon MX490 printer when you go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, go to the Canon support page (https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-mx490) and download and install the ICA Driver Ver. 5.0.0 (Mac) as well as any updated drivers available. Remove the printer then re-add it and it should resolve the scanner issue. Hope this helps someone!

Apple's listed AirPrint support begins with the Canon MX491 model, though the technical specs for the MX 490 model also indicate it is a wireless capable device with AirPrint support. If actually supported by AirPrint, then one could use Apple's Image Capture, and presumably without Canon's ICA driver support.

This issue is specific to the scanner feature only. The print/Air Print capabilities were unaffected with the move to an M1/M2 Mac, however for this issue, the device would not show up in Image Capture either. Installing that driver rectifies the problem of the scanner not being recognized under Settings>Printer & Scanners as well as Image Capture specifically for the MX490.
