Hi vijayati,
To make it take money from your debit card, you'll need to set that as your default card.
"How to change the default card for Apple Pay on your iPhone
- Open the Wallet app.
- Touch and hold the payment card that you want to set as your default card.
- Drag the card in front of your other cards."
This is from Change or remove the payment cards that you use with Apple Pay - Apple Support
That should clear things up for you.
