photos in reverse order in iMovie

I have a new Mac mini ventura 13.3. I had a Mac mini 1012(late) using catalina, and have never had this problem till now. All my images in photos that are in correct order when you view them, are in REVERSE ORDER when you see them in iMovie 10.3.5. So if you try to put them in a timeline they are still in reverse, unless you pick them one at a time! I just got off the phone with a senior advisor and he was unaware of this issue and has no fix for it. Has anyone else experienced this and also reached out to apple? I am wanting to return this new mac mini and go back to my old one using catalina!

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

Hi,

Several posters on this forum have experienced issues with preserving the sort order of photos in iMovie.

In Media browser view, and in Events, you can do View/Sort Clips By, and that will present you with options to sort by Date, Name and Duration, in ascending or descending order. The issue arises when one has a manual sort order different than the default ones listed above.

A workaround is to place the photos in an album in the Photos app, manually sort them as desired, and then do a Select All and Export the photos in a "Sequential" File Name (an option in the share box) to a folder on the desktop.

From there drag them as a batch into iMovie. The sort order should be preserved. The order might still be reversed when displayed in the Media browser, but will be correct when dragged into the timeline.
