I received an email from applesupportcommunities@apple.com wanting to congratulate me on reaching a point milestone. It goes on to ask me for my first and last name and mailing address to send me something special. Is this standard practice and legit or am I being phished? Thanks.

It is legit if it is from apple.com. Occasionally Apple will send awards to community members.
