email sent from Mail on iMac not showing up in sent folder on iPhone or webmail

All my email accounts in Mail on my iMac are set to IMAP, but none of the sent mail is showing up in the sent folder on my iPhone or in webmail. Why?

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 13.4

Hi RichardPatterson,

Do emails sent from other devices or webmail show up in the Sent mailbox on your Mac?

If so, you may want to try deleting the account from your Mac and then adding it again. This may resolve any account settings that could be causing the issue.

You can find steps for removing the account here: Log out of or remove email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

To add the account, follow these steps: Add email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know if that helps.

Take care.

Thanks

If I send an email from webmail it shows up in the sent folder under the list of folders for my email account at the bottom below the listings of the On My Mac folder, but it does not show up in the normal Sent folder for my account. (I'm sorry I don't know how to specify the difference between the three Sent folder in the Mail sidebar for my email account.)

Emails sent from my iPhone do not show up anywhere in Mail on my iMac.

I tried removing the account and setting it up again. Nothing changed.

Hello RichardPatterson,

If you have multiple accounts signed in, you'll see multiple Inbox and Sent folders under the parent folder. For example, if you have two accounts signed in you'll see:

Inbox ⌄

Account 1

Account 2

To properly troubleshoot the issue we need to narrow down where it's happening. Currently, the issue could be stemming from your Mac or from the email provider. One really easy way to see where the issue is stemming from is to open webmail for your account and send an email to the same account. This tests the send and receive functions of the account. After you receive the email, while still on the webmail site, check to see if shows in the correct place. If it does, the issue is related to the Mail app on your Mac. If it does not, the issue is related to the email provider.

If the issue is related to the Mail app, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support for more help: Get Support They should be able to screen share and help you with this.

If it's related to the email provider, we recommend reaching out to them for help.

Thanks.
