Windows iCloud Photos- change the path location to another drive outside of Windows Photos path

Getting Error 5 on using iCloud on Windows 11 . We have redirected our Photos path to a family NAS that everyone can access. the iCloud Shared Albums path can be changed. BUt we need to change the path on the iCloud Photos location. Also for disk space on C: is low and want to use a much larger D: to sync to.

Why dos the iCloud Photos ONLY all the use of the Windows Photos location?

Windows, Windows 10

Hello PatentQueen,

We see you are trying to correct or set a different path for your iCloud Shared Albums on your Windows system. It sounds like the issue might be that you are trying to set it to what is considered as an external drive. See more here: Set up Photos in iCloud for Windows

If you want to access your iCloud Shared Albums on your PC, select Shared Albums. To change the location where photos and videos from Shared Albums are stored, click Change.

Note: You can only change the location to another folder on the C: Drive. External drives aren’t supported.

Best regards.
