Macintosh 12" RGB Display not turning on

My Macintosh 12" RGB Display (Family number M1299) from the 90s doesn't turn on anymore. When I click the power button it goes in but nothing happens. It has worked as recently as a few months ago.

Please advise.

Thanks

Old CRT monitors produce a lot of heat. Most issues with them are age-related due to heat making the wiring's insulation brittle and crumbly, causing short circuits.

Given that:

  • A shorted wire is a serious fire hazard and,
  • It is getting hard to find anyone qualified to work on CRTs at any cost,

...I would let that one die in piece. I cannot in good conscience recommend that anyone lacking professional credentials/training work on an old CRT due to fire and fatal amounts of electricity present. The shock hazard remains a issue long after the monitor is removed from a power source.

I work on a lot of computers both for family and friends. I can take apart most. I DO NOT work on CRT monitors because I am very fond of my wife's husband!
