screentime on family sharing

Hello

I want to monitor and limit my 14 year old teenager's screen time in family sharing. According to Apple, based on his age, he would not be considered a child. I have not included him yet in the family sharing. Would he then be considered an adult and, if so, would I still be able to monitor and limit his time? My wife is in the family and there doesn't appear to be the option to limit hers (not that I want to).

Thank you,

Scott L.

Hello jolly_mon7,

Yes, you can remotely adjust the Screen Time settings on their device through your device. Here's those steps:

1. Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
2. Scroll down and choose your child's name under Family.
3. Tap Turn on Screen Time, then tap Continue.
4. Set up DowntimeApp Limits, and Content & Privacy with the limitations that you want for your child, or tap Not Now.
5. Tap Use Screen Time Passcode, then enter a passcode when prompted. Re-enter the passcode to confirm.
6. Enter your Apple ID and password. This can be used to reset your Screen Time passcode if you forget it.

Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!

Hi jolly_mon7,

We want to help with Screen Time.

When you add your teenager to Family Sharing, you can still manage their account and screen time as a parent.

Make sure you set up Family Sharing first:

Set up Family Sharing on iPhone

Next, you can take the steps to enable the parental controls for Screen Time:

Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Hello Jay

I'm just not seeing a "family" listing under screen time. I do see the three of us (me, wife, son) under family sharing in the prior menu. On my phone under screen time, it appears that I only see my own activities/options. This is what I see: (daily average, see all activity, downtime, app limits, communication limits, apps always allowed, content and privacy restrictions, change screen time password, share across devices, turn off screen time). I will say that both my wife and my 14 year old son are set up as adults. Would that be causing the problem? I didn't have the option to make him a child as I recall. Thanks!!
