why is battery life an issue after recent update

Slightly increased battery load is normal for a few days after software changes, but if your watch battery only lasts 3 hours that is an extreme change. What was the life before the recent update?
I suggest restart the watch to eliminate any possibility of memory corruption, and see how it behaves for a day or two. If it has not recovered to near normal by that time, contact Apple Support for further advice.
