That's how you know they dropped the ball. I hope the FCP team has a 'lessons learned' session for that release. It seems this was also affecting iMovie, as it was updated with the same fix description.

That's the quickest update FCP's ever had. Wouldn't be surprised if it was right up there among the quickest updates for any application of this size.
It sure needed it! There have been several that were less than a month, but this one was only 2 weeks!
And it didn't force me to update any library from 10.6.7 either.
So glad they acted fast on this, it was a pretty serious bug that affected nearly everyone using the app.
Version 10.6.8 is excellent, everything works beautifully.
