Connecting Apple Studio Display to HP Zbook Fury G8: Troubleshooting Thunderbolt 4 Port Issue

Hello everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with the Apple Studio Display and seek some help with an issue I'm facing.

I have two laptops - a MacBook Pro and an HP Zbook Fury G8 running Windows 11. Connecting the display to my MacBook Pro was seamless, but I'm encountering problems when trying to connect it to my HP Zbook, which comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Despite having Thunderbolt 4 ports, the display isn't working with my HP Zbook. I am using the Thunderbolt USB-C cable that came with the Studio Display. When I connect them, the PC screen starts pulsing, and eventually, the PC recognizes that it's connected to the monitor, but unfortunately, nothing is displayed on the monitor itself.

To address this, I've made sure to update all recent Windows updates and installed the recommended HP drivers.

I would be incredibly grateful for any assistance in troubleshooting this issue. Thank you in advance for your help!

Have the same hardware (Zbook running Win 10 though), and what hcsitas is telling is simply not true.

For me, the Studio Display runs just fine on the ZBook too, with one caveat: you need to have the HP power brick attached to the laptop when you boot it / resume from sleep. If I don't, I get the same behavior you described. Windows seems to think the monitor is attached, but the screen stays black (sometimes it flickers on during login and then goes black again).

But, as said, if the power brick is attached during boot, all is fine. Once logged in, I can take it off also, works fine for the rest of the day and the Studio Display has enough power to keep the ZBook charged. Been using it like this for more than half a year now, loving the display!

(I had a 16" HP Spectre x360 which worked fine on the Studio Display too, girlfriend has a 14"Spectre that also works flawlessly on it, both without the 'needing power brick during boot' trick.
