Toyota rav4 2023 carplay navigation issue

Hi

it’s been 4 months I bought the car, I live in Dallas, where the roads already crazy and this problem makes it even worse, I’ve missed and taken exists, it’s too risky to drive with this CarPlay navigation system.

I strongly believe it’s iPhone problem since it never happened when I use android.

I’ve already raised a ticket to apple support but no response yet.

There are thousands of people facing the same issue.

please find more details here.

Though you have not provided the following information I would guess and give an answer.

  1. For navigation which Map are you using
  2. Is your Apple CarPlay connected wirelessly or through a USB cable

I understand that you are having issues with CarPlay navigation in your 2023 Toyota RAV4 XLE and you also said: "This is a known issue that has been reported by other users."

There are a few things you can try that others may not have tried to fix the problem:

  1. Make sure that your iPhone's location services are enabled and set to "While Using" for the navigation app you are using (e.g., Apple Maps, Google Maps). See the pic below
  2. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo. Make sure that your iPhone is connected to your car's USB port using a high-quality cable. You can also try connecting to a different USB port in your car.
  3. Restart your iPhone and your car. This can sometimes clear up minor software glitches that can cause problems with CarPlay.
  4. Update your iPhone's software. Make sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. You can check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
  5. Update your car's firmware. The firmware is the software that runs your car's infotainment system. You can check for firmware updates by going to your car's owner's manual or by contacting your local Toyota dealer.
  6. Reset your CarPlay settings. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay and tap on your car. Then, tap on Forget This Car. After you have forgotten your car, you will need to re-pair it with your iPhone.
  7. If the problem persists, get in touch with Toyota customer support or visit your local dealership. They might have encountered similar issues and could have specific solutions or updates for your RAV4's infotainment system. How To Set Up Apple CarPlay® On Toyota Cars

  9. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  10. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

I have the same issue. It does not matter what phone - I have paired with MANY including the reps at the dealership. This has been an issue since I purchased the car new in Jan 2023 - 2023 Toyota RAV4 Adventure. It has been in and out of 2 dealerships over the last year and a half with no solution. I am very frustrated that no one has a fix for this issue. I bought the vehicle needing navigation for work and travel. I can only use my phone on the dash not connected to CarPlay.

My phones have all worked flawlessly on other RAV4 vehicles I have been given as loaners.

Someone needs to figure this out.
