iPhone screen time inaccurate

How does iPhone calculate total screen time ? I add up how much time I have used on each app. The total is no more than 4.7 hours . Yet the iPhone reports that my screen time is 7 hours . Isn’t the point of screen time function to help reduce time spent on the iPhone ??

Yet if these readings are so inaccurate, the screen time function serves nothing more than to cause a whole lot of frustration !!!

I agree! I love the idea of Screen Time but it is mostly useless to me because it doesn’t differentiate when the app is open vs in use. And I don’t like that apps are in pre-determined categories that can’t be edited. Also, there is no way to edit entries or see usage start and stop times to make sure actual usage was logged. Lastly, Apple doesn’t allow other app developers to have access to code to use the data to make better apps.

The main purpose of Screen Time is marketing. It helps Apple look like it has this great app to encourage responsible phone usage but they refuse to improve the app and make it a robust tool. Very frustrating.
