Apple Music subscription not appearing on Macbook

I recently got a new phone which came with the free 6-month trial for Apple Music. The subscription works on my phone but it isn’t showing up on the Music app on my Macbook Pro. My apple ID is signed in to the iTunes store and etc, but the “sync library” option in the preferences is greyed out. Is the promotion only specific to my phone? Or is it just my Mac being difficult?

Yeah, I've re-authorised the computer, and when I open "Preferences," the option to sync library is greyed out (it also has my Apple ID in brackets), not allowing me to tick it. I also tried clicking "Open in Music" on the web player, but it just opens the Music app and does nothing else. Probably just stick to the web player unless there's something else I can try.

Edit: The 'Download Dolby Atmos' option is able to be checked, which according to this document, means I'm signed in. See Change General preferences in Music on Mac – Apple Support (AU).
