The problem arises when listening to Apple Music through an external speaker via Bluetooth. The track's start time is respected, but not the stop time. The solution is simple: while Apple Music is open, turn off Bluetooth completely, then turn it back on, and finally connect to your external Bluetooth speaker.

In general features such as start and stop times or EQ settings may be ignored when using AirPlay or Bluetooth playback. Metadata editing may also be suppressed.

Ok but in my case it doesn't work on my MacBook Pro, even if I turn off bluetooth.

Turns out I needed to download the playlist/song to work.
